Shiatsu

Shiatsu involves a hands-on approach that uses foundational massage techniques along the energy meridians of the horse. While it shares a philosophical basis with acupuncture, it doesn’t seek to supplant it. Meridians are pathways through which energy flows, functioning in tandem as yin and yang pairs. These pairs, equal yet opposites, are linked by belonging to the same element but following opposing directions. Through Shiatsu massage, the aim is to harmonize and rejuvenate a horse’s Ki (also known as Qi or Chi)—the vital life force energy of the body. This practice aligns with the framework of the 5 elements theory.

Water brings wood to life by hydrating. Wood provides fuel for fire. Fire provides ash to nourish the earth. Earth provides elements to forge metal. Metal vitalizes water by permeating it.

Water puts out fire. Wood covers the earth. Fire melts metal. Earth contains water. Metal cuts through wood.
