Cupping represents an alternative approach to supportive therapy. Its mechanism hinges on the creation of suction through a vacuum within the cup. This action elevates the skin and augments blood circulation in the targeted region. Within the sphere of cupping, various cup types exist; in my practice, I’ve chosen silicone cups for their animal-friendly application. Like kinesiology tape, cupping introduces a decompressive influence (in contrast to the compressive nature of massage). However, in comparison to tape, cupping is more potent but of briefer duration. Cups remain on the animal’s body for roughly 0.5 to 3 minutes to prevent any bruising from occurring.
